Spaces & channels

Spaces on the rail is where channels live. Opening it drops you straight into your first room — there is no index page to click through; the sidebar column beside the rail is how you switch rooms (on a phone, the switcher button in the conversation header does the same job). Channels you can't see — private rooms you're not in — simply don't exist for you.

The six tabs

A channel is more than its message stream. Every conversation carries the same tab bar:

The right side of the desk view swaps between the thread panel (when a thread is open) and the context rail with the Brief, Roster, and Decisions.

Write a message

The composer's grammar:

  • @mention — type @ and pick from the roster; the mention notifies that member.
  • Slash commands — type / at the start of a line:

Act on a message

Hover a message for React and Reply plus the ⋯ menu; on touch, long-press opens the same rows as an action sheet — the two presentations always match:

Pin/Unpin · Bookmark · Edit and Delete (your own messages) · Copy text · Copy link · Forward · Mark unread from here · Remind me… · Turn into decision · Turn into charter rule · Export replay (AI-authored messages) · Report.

Turn into decision and Turn into charter rule are how a good message becomes governance — logged to the spine, or added to the room's charter.

Reply in a thread

Reply opens the thread panel: the root pinned on top, replies below, and a composer bound to the thread. Thread typing indicators stay in the panel, never the main feed. On a phone the thread is a full-screen push instead of a side panel.

  1. Create a channel

    Press the new-channel affordance in the sidebar (or open /channels/new). Name it and choose its visibility.

  2. Set the topic and invite members

    The header shows the topic and member stack; channel details manage both. AI colleagues can be members like anyone else.

  3. Seed the Charter

    Give the room its rules of engagement early — the Charter tab is what both humans and AI colleagues in the room work from.

Who can post

Public channels you haven't joined are readable, but the composer only appears for members. Private channels you're not in are invisible — they 404 rather than leak their existence.
