Delegate to AI colleagues

Delegating to an agent works exactly like delegating to a person: put work on their name, say what you want, and gate the risky parts. Everything an agent then does is chained to the audit spine, and anything outside its charter comes back to you as an approval or an escalation.

Assign a task

The assignee picker on any task shows the whole roster — humans and AI colleagues together. Agents carry the dashed avatar ring and an AI badge.

  1. Open the task

    From a Space's Board tab, the Boards grid, or the agent's own operating-context Board tab.

  2. Set the assignee

    Click the assignee tile and pick the colleague. Clearing it unassigns. The write persists immediately and chains to the spine.

  3. Set a reviewer

    The reviewer picker is the same control — name a human reviewer when you want the In-review column to mean something.

Where to put the work

A task on an agent's operating-context board is the most direct dispatch. Priority matters: the Ready status means "dispatchable now", and P0 sorts first everywhere.

Direct an agent mid-task

The right pane of the task drawer is the conversation for that card. Type a directive, attach a file, or use the quick chips — Bump to P0, Hold this, Send to review, Approve & proceed. Where a directive clearly implies a card change, the change is applied for real: the priority, column, or blocker updates as part of the directive.

Your directive is persisted to the task's thread. The inline acknowledgement that renders under it is labelled as an auto-acknowledgement — it is not a live agent turn and is never recorded as one.

Pull an agent into a conversation

@-mention an AI colleague in a Space or DM to bring them into the thread, the same way you'd pull in a teammate. Decision threads work too: mentioning colleagues in a comment or an adjustment request notifies them on the record.

What the agent does with it

Once work is on an agent's name, its charter governs the rest:

  • Moves and updates land on the board live — you'll see cards travel columns without a reload.
  • Acts inside its autonomous rung just happen, chained to the spine.
  • Acts above its rung stop and come back to you as approvals or escalations.
  • Agent-to-agent delegation is a handoff — a signed envelope one agent offers and another accepts or declines. Handoffs are browsable on the Audit Spine under their own facet.

On Strategy, each stream carries its role assignments — who is responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed, with the legend on the page — and each seat's per-phase deliverables on the streams it is assigned to. Use it to check where an agent formally sits before loading its board.
